Voices in the field

Through its process To Zero aimed to create a shared map of the landscape and a clear pathway for the sector to end Childhood Sexual Violence within a generation. The methodology for gathering field-level input centered on:

(1) piggyback on existing convenings of organizations, actors and stakeholders working in the field and

(2) offering spaces for ideation and networking between stakeholders that do not normally interact.

Over 330 stakeholders working in the sector to end childhood sexual violence engaged with To Zero’s processes either in virtual or in-person meetings.

Seeking to create

A compelling, evidence-based vision that celebrates current best practice and interventions in the field that are ripe for scaling up for greater impact. And most significantly, unearth areas for innovation with the potential to radically disrupt with recommended steps to accelerate change.  We believe in doing so, the vision will bring us closer to a world in which children are nurtured and supported to thrive, without the threat of sexual violence.

The process grappled with the following questions:

What innovations are already happening today? How can we nurture and scale them?

The process was enriched by

Interviews to support movement building and research in the sector

75 in-depth interviews with stakeholders across the globe to identify innovative responses and strategies to end childhood sexual violence (conducted by Solutions Insights Lab

Capturing voices of emerging leaders across the childhood sexual violence and related sectors

Convening of youth leaders in the sector, across the globe, to secure youth perspectives in the final vision and road map.

Listening to researchers
in the field

The Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) was commissioned to gather the views and insights of researchers on data and evidence related to childhood sexual violence.

Co-creation

The co-creation involved a programme of in-person retreats and online workshops. Members of the visioning team actively engaged their networks to gather more input to the process and build momentum for the vision in the field. Sector insights informed the design of the process at the beginning and throughout. And all knowledge products emerging from the process were openly shared.

Understanding the uniqueness and diversity of all participating stakeholders, inclusion, well-being and creating safe spaces guided the design as well.

To Zero continues to be guided by its values of courage, innovation, taking a worldview and being purposeful.

Getting To Zero

To Zero started the process by commissioning a report to gain a deep understanding of the current landscape.

Getting to Zero: A Review of The Evidence To  End Childhood Sexual Violence anaylsed historical and current evidence from across the sector.

Its goal was to make sure everyone helping to develop the To Zero Vision and Roadmap had access to the most relevant frameworks and information on promising developments and persistent challenges.
